Biography:
Hec Lalande, a member of a prominent North Bay athletic family, made hockey his main sport, moving through the ranks in the city from grade school to Midget to Junior “B” in Belleville; Junior "A" with Galt Black Hawks where he played for three seasons. He made a strong impression when he was called up to the Chicago Blackhawks of the NHL while still of junior age. Joining the Hawks, he played almost three years with them before joining Detroit Red Wings in an eight player deal. He played 151 NHL games and picked up 60 points. His most productive pro years were with the AHL Hershey Bears where he put together a number of excellent seasons, helping them to a pair of Calder Cup championships.
